Charanka Solar Power Plant in Patan
The Charanka village is home to Asia’s largest solar park. It is considered to be the world’s second largest producer of electricity. There are numerous rows of photovoltaic cells or solar panels extended on an area of 2,965 acres that harness the sun. These rows of photovoltaic cells or solar panels generate around 214 MW on daily basis, which is more than 200 MW in China Golmund Solar park. The project has been proven to be successful due to Gujarat solar policy and the National Solar Mission (NSM). This project accounts for the total of 80% India's installed capacity.
Besides Charanka solar park in Patan, there are more solar parks expanded across 13 sun-kissed districts. They are spread over 2,375 acres of non-arable land. To construct solar power plants with more than 40 MW capacities, 84 developers have joined hands.
